چکیده
Background: A frenum that encroaches on the margin of the gingiva may interfere with plaque removal and cause tension. Frenectomy is the complete removal of the frenum that can be made by scalpels or with soft tissue lasers. The aim of this article was to compare the degree of postoperative pain, such as discomfort and functional complications (eating and speech), experienced by pat ients af ter two frenectomy operation techniques. Methods: Sixteen patients requiring frenectomy were randomly assigned to have treatment either with a conventional technique or with a diode laser. The postoperat ive pain and funct ional complication ratings of each patient were recorded using a visual analogue scale on days 1 and 7. Results: The results indicated patients treated with the diode laser had less postoperative pain and fewer functional complications (P <0.0001 each) and required fewer analgesics (P <0.001) compared to patients treated with the conventional scalpel technique. Conclusions: This clinical study indicates that diode laser treatment used for frenectomy operations provides better patient perception in terms of postoperative pain and function than that obtained by the 38 Vol1, Issue 1, Jan Apr 2014

Vestibular Extension along with Frenectomy in Management of Localized Gingival Recession in Pediatric Patient: A New Innovative Surgical Approach
This paper reports case of pediatric localized gingival recession (LGR) in mandibular anterior region which was treated by using new innovative surgical approach, i.e. combination of frenectomy and vestibular extension. These interceptive surgeries not only gained sufficient width of attached gingival but also lower the attachment of labial frenum. How to cite this article: Jingarwar M, Pathak ...

Aim To suggest regarding the timing of oral surgery and laser treatment for frenulum abnormalities in the pediatric population. Materials and methods We investigated the sex, age, frenulum site, reason for consultation, treatment method, and prognosis of 35 patients aged 15 years or younger and who were examined at our hospital for the chief complaint of frenulum abnormality. متن کاملFrenectomy: a review with the reports of surgical techniques.
The frenum is a mucous membrane fold that attaches the lip and the cheek to the alveolar mucosa, the gingiva, and the underlying periosteum. The frena may jeopardize the gingival health when they are attached too closely to the gingival margin, either due to an interference in the plaque control or due to a muscle pull. In addition to this, the maxillary frenum may present aesthetic problems or...
متن کاملLaser-Assisted Frenectomy Using 980nm Diode Laser
A frenum is a fold of tissue or muscle connecting the lips, cheek or tongue to the jawbone. Their high attachment may cause orthodontic problem (Central diastima), prosthodontic problems (Poor retention of denture), periodontic problems (gingival recession and inflammation) and speech problem (tongue tied in ligual frenum). A frenectomy is the removal of one of these folds of tissue and it is a...
متن کاملUpper-lip laser frenectomy without infiltrated anaesthesia in a paediatric patient: a case report
Labial frenectomy is a common surgical procedure in the field of oral surgery. Labial frenectomy is a procedure usually done for orthodontic reasons. The role of laser surgery in the oral cavity is well established. The use of diode laser frenectomy without infiltrated anaesthesia is currently under investigation. Needle-less oral surgery, without infiltrated anaesthesia, is a novel situation i...
